Slow Down

“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.”  Ephesians 4:2 NLT

Being patient is quite a simple concept to apply but for some reason, it can be so difficult to put into practice.

Practicing patience helps you to better manage the curveballs that life throws at you.

Patience also brings calmness, optimism, hope and confidence to your life.

In order to be able to do Ephesians 4:2, you must do some self-inventory/awareness steps:

  1. Make yourself wait. The best way to practice patience is to make yourself wait. You will begin to gain more patience as you practice.
  2. Stop doing things that aren’t important. It’s time to learn to say no to things that cause stress and make us impatient.
  3. Relax and take deep breaths. Taking slow deep breaths can help calm the mind and body. The point is to find some time for you each day to decompress.

Because you are more self-aware, you have a better understanding of what makes you happy and you will tend to focus on doing the things that bring you joy.

As you free yourself and slow down, you are able to express love to your spouse, your children, your friends, your whomever. Show your love by having an attitude of gratitude. Tell them how much you appreciate even the smallest of contributions and support.
